2012 College Football: SEC Injury Updates Week 13 and Conference Overview

Another great week of college football has come and gone with then No. 1 Kansas State and No. 2 Oregon being upset in intra-conference games leaving one to openly question just how much the football gods truly loves SEC football.
The SEC is full of top tier match-ups throughout the conference in Week 13 starting with Alabama verses Auburn.
Alabama is back in control of their destiny. The Tide has to close out against Auburn this week, assuming they beat the Tigers, and close out against Georgia in the SEC Championship Game for a chance to defend their title in Miami.
LSU will look to avoid an upset against Arkansas in Fayetteville. The Tigers still have a shot at a possible SEC Championship Game berth and a BCS Championship Game berth if Alabama and Texas A&M both lose this weekend.
Florida might have something to say about the national championship game if they take care of business against FSU this week. A romp over No. 10 FSU will add to the Gators impressive 2012 college football resume.
South Carolina is on shaky ground and will have their hands full with in-state rival Clemson. Clemson’s passing attack should prove to be a nice match-up against the Gamecocks tough defense. If Tajh Boyd has time to throw an upset of sorts could be in the making.
When Kentucky travels to Tennessee on Saturday the game will feature a unique situation rarely found in college football, both coaches will be lame duck signal callers on the sidelines.
Kentucky’s Joker Phillips and Tennessee’s Derek Dooley have both been notified they will not be brought back to coach their respective teams in 2013; as predicted on Razorbackers last week.
Look for trick plays, big gambles, and lots of shots down the field from both teams as neither has nothing to lose and nothing to play for. Look for Tennessee to send Dooley off the field a winner.
Hugh Freeze has turned the Ole Miss program around now he needs to establish that the state of Mississippi is his by beating Mississippi State. Only problem is Dan Mullen is looking to establish his own mark on the state by beating the first-year SEC head coach.
Should be a tight and exciting game once the ball is kicked off in Oxford at 7 p.m. ET.
All eyes will be on the score board, where applicable, to see the final score of the No. 1 Notre Dame match-up against USC, a game being held in Los Angeles.
The Irish may have cashed in their lucky stars when Trojan quarterback Matt Barkley was knocked out of the game against UCLA last week. Barkley will not suit up leaving a redshirt freshman with the task of beating the top team in the land.
If Notre Dame stumbles and the rest of the BCS Top Five wins, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida should occupy the top three spots in the rankings.
If Oregon and Kansas State should both be defeated again this week, LSU will slide up to No. 4, depending on how badly Notre Dame loses, making an interesting situation for the BCS.
No two ways around it, the SEC would have two teams in the BCS Championship Game for the second year in a row.
Should the games play out this way count on college football fans outside of SEC country to cry foul and dismiss college football until the playoff system comes into effect. In turn SEC fans will tell the rest of college football to not lose games and you will not have anything to complain about.
