Injuries throughout the SEC are starting to mount up and the end results should really begin to affect teams in week three action.

Last week LSU was dealt a blow before their non-conference matchup against Pac-12 member University of Washington when starting left tackle Chris Faulk injured his knee and was termed out indefinitely.

The Tigers have gone from one of the healthier teams in conference to now missing seven players. Second string linebackers Tahj Jones and D.J. Welter were both dismissed from the team this week along with two other players for academic reasons. Granted the Tigers are deep, but losing two quality backup linebackers could shakeup the defensive depth chart and rotation over the next couple of weeks. Fortunately for LSU they do not have a tough game on their schedule for four more weeks (Florida, Oct. 6).

Georgia should have a few familiar faces back on the field this week versus Florida Atlantic. A couple of players may still be held out of the lineup but a few should trickle back onto the field in time for the Bulldogs to start conference play in week four versus Vanderbilt followed up by a home game against Tennessee.

The Missouri Tigers are trading off healthy starting linebackers. Last week middle linebacker Will Ebner was banged up heading into the Georgia game. This week weak side linebacker Zaviar Gooden may not play when the Sun Devils travel to Columbia.

Missouri’s offensive line was already thin with the loss of guard Travis Ruth, now left tackle Elvis Fisher will miss some games with a knee injury.

The hardest hit team with injuries in the SEC has been the Arkansas Razorbacks. In less than one week the Hogs have lost two starting fullbacks (Small and Walker), and starting cornerback (Tevin Mitchell), and might be without the services of preseason All-SEC quarterback Tyler Wilson when Alabama travels to Fayetteville on Saturday.

The Razorbacks were a much different team during the second half of their upset loss to Louisiana-Monroe without Wilson. Wilson has been termed as day-to-day by the Arkansas coaching staff with head coach John L. Smith stating that he was optimistic of Wilson being cleared by team doctors before game time.
