SEC Baseball: Two Razorbacks Earn All-SEC Honors
By Ryan Wright
Fayetteville, Ark. – When the SEC announced their All-SEC Team before the beginning of NCAA post-season play, two Arkansas Razorbacks were listed among the first and second team players- 2012 First Team All-SEC third baseman Matt Reynolds and 2012 Second Team All-SEC second baseman Bo Bingham.
Reynolds, a junior from Bishop Kelley High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, leads the Hogs in batting average (.341), homeruns (7), doubles (19), RBI (42), and slugging percentage (.534).
Reynolds bounced back from injuries that hampered his success on the field during his freshman and sophomore seasons allowing him to play an entire season relatively healthy for the first time in his collegiate career. Now healthy, fans can see what Arkansas skipper Dave Van Horn has been waiting to unleash on opposing SEC teams.
Senior second baseman Bo Bingham (Texarkana) is hitting .271 for the Hogs and is fourth on the team in total hits (51).
Bingham has started 49 of the Razorbacks’ 60 games appearing in 55 total contest. He has sharpened his defense having committed 12 errors while posting a fielding percentage of .947.
The honored second baseman racked up 82 putouts with 134 assists, second best on the Arkansas team.
First baseman Dominic Ficociello (Fullerton, Cal.) was placed on the All-Defensive Team after only committing four errors on the season and being responsible for 543 putouts with 32 assists.
Ficociello, a converted shortstop from his Fullerton Union High School days, posted a fielding percentage of .993 while hitting .302 for the Hogs at the plate. He has started in 59 of the Hogs 60 games.
