College Football: Hogs Add Sixth Verbal Commitment for 2013 Recruiting Class
By Ryan Wright
Fayetteville, Ark. – The University of Arkansas football staff added their sixth verbal commitment for the 2013 recruiting class on Friday when quarterback Tyler Cogswell told Razorback Nation on The Wally Hall Show he wants to be a Razorback.
Cogswell is the big quarterback that offensive coordinators love to see on the high school level. At 6’4”, 226 pounds, thePlantation,Floridanative is the kind of pro-style quarterback Paul Petrino can mold into a Tyler Wilson type of college football player.
As a junior at American Heritage High School Cogswell did not put up flashy numbers, 1,953 yards passing, 23 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, but his intangibles and skill set were enough for Petrino to offer him a scholarship after watching him practice Monday May 14.
Cogswell previously visited the University of Arkansas campus during their junior day February 11.
Rivals.com lists Cogswell as a three-star recruit.
Nebraska, South Alabama, Florida International, and Central Michigan have all offered Cogswell a scholarship. He has received interest from top schools such as LSU, Penn State, Mississippi, Tennessee, andWest Virginia.
When Tyler Cogswell verbally committed on Friday he was the fourth 2013 recruit to do so with the Hogs this week- Brooks Ellis, Austin Allen, and Alex Brignoni.
