On Monday Arkansas basketball head coach Mike Anderson went on the Paul Finebaum show to defend his players. Dick Vitale came on soon after to say his part.

After the SEC Championship game, Mike Anderson went on Paul Finebaum’s show to defend his players against Dick Vitale. Not too long after Anderson said his piece on “that announcer”, Vitale came on and essentially said the coach was making things up.

In case you missed what Anderson said, I wrote this article with the video of Anderson included. The basic point of Anderson’s defense was that Vitale didn’t even know the name of the players yet he spoke on their character and Anderson said Dick was wrong for that.

Vitale went on the show and had some interesting things to say, specifically about one thing that Anderson said in his defense. When Anderson said Vitale didn’t know his player’s name he said that Vitale even called Moses Kingsley “Beasley”.

Once on the show, Dick started out on the name slip that Anderson alleged, during which he almost called him Moses Beasley again on the show. “That’s ridiculous,” Vitale says in his opening points saying that he knew his name and that it never happened.

Basically, what Vitale’s entire seven-minute rant boils down to is that Mike is wrong, he always knew Beasley I mean Kingsley’s name and that he wouldn’t be apologizing to anyone. In the words of Vitale, “Give me a break.”

I trust Anderson’s account on the matter. There is no reason Anderson would make up the name issue and Vitale did attack player’s character over nonsense. It’s important to remember that Mike isn’t defending the fouls but defending the backlash that came after Dickie V blew it out of proportion. Woo pig.
