With Arkansas Razorbacks baseball around the corner, Bonfield has been named to the coaches preseason All-SEC team.

The Arkansas Razorbacks baseball team takes the field in seven days. Ahead of the season, the coaches preseason All-SEC team has been released. Representing the Razorbacks is the junior left fielder, Luke Bonfield.

Bonfield, who is on the second team All-SEC team, was the only Razorback to make the list but the coaches definitely made a good choice. Luke had his coming out season this past year and could have an even better season this year.

Last year, he had a .304 batting average, led the Hogs with 39 RBIs and hit eight home runs in the 2016 season. Bonfield had 14 multi-hit games as well as nine multi-RBI games which tied for first on the team. Out of 48 games, he had one or more hits in 35 of them.

Luke was the left fielder in 2016 from the Opening Day through the entirety of the season. It’s highly likely that he plays this position again for the 2017 season for Arkansas.

The junior is one of eight returning starters for the Razorbacks this season. His batting and experience throughout the 2016 season are tremendous for the Hogs.

Head coach Dave Van Horn will be leading Bonfield and his Razorback team into his 15th season. Van Horn has been highly successful at Arkansas but last year was a rough on for the Hogs.

A mix between inconsistent pitching plaguing them and overall being a young team led to a down season. As we enter the 2017 season, this team looks much more equipped to have a great year.

The “Omahogs” begin the 2017 season with a three-game series against Miami (Ohio). The game is on February 17th with the first game starting at 3:00 p.m.  Woo pig!
