After 17 years, color analyst for the Razorback Sports Network, Keith Jackson is set to retire. Jackson said he will be parting ways with the football broadcast team to watch his two sons play college football.

Keith Jackson was born in Little Rock in 1965 and attended Parkview High School. During his time playing high school football, Jackson earned All-State honors for tight end and safety. In 2011 PARADE named him to the Top PARADE All-American High School Football Players of All Time.

Instead of staying in state, Keith took his talents to the University of Oklahoma from 1984 to 1987. “Boomer Sooner” as he was nicknamed during his time at Oklahoma, was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2001. He was voted Offensive Player of the century at OU as well.

Jackson was drafted in the first round at the thirteenth pick to the Philadelphia Eagles in 1988. That year he was awarded the NFC rookie of the year award. Keith also played for the Miami Dolphins as well as the Green Bay Packers.

More from Razorbackers

From 1988 to 1996, Jackson won Super Bowl XXXI with the Packers and was a six-time Pro Bowler. Keith also earned First-Team All-Pro honors three times. During his time in the NFL, he made 441 receptions for 5,283 yards and 49 touchdowns.

Jackson began his career for the Razorback Sports network in 2000 with Arkansas play-by-play announcing legend Pul Eells. After Eells’ tragic death in 2006, Jackson was joined by Mike Nail and afterward was joined by the current play-by-play announcer Chuck Barrett.

Jackson said Monday his reason for leaving RSN was to watch his two sons play college football. Kenyon Jackson is a freshman defensive tackle for Illinois. Koilan Jackson is committed to play receiver for the Razorbacks starting in 2017. His oldest son Keith Jackson Jr. played for the Hogs from 2003 to 2006.

After the upcoming season, former Razorback quarterback Quinn Grovey will be taking over for Jackson. Grovey has been a sideline announcer at RSN for 19 years. “I know how much the Razorbacks mean to this state and I am honored to be a part of that special connection,” Grovey said according to Arkansasonline.com.
