The Arkansas Razorbacks were mauled by the Mississippi State Bulldogs by a score of 78-46. It was 40 minutes of hell in the most literal sense.

Dear lord, I don’t even know where to begin. So we lost, I think that is very well cleared up. I’ll say, losing by 32 points is not something that sits well with me. No, not Toledo bad, but still pretty bad. There aren’t any excuses for how the Hogs performed tonight other than they just played the worst game of the season. I will give Mississippi State props for the amazing defensive stand tonight, but ugh.

The Hogs kicked off the fun matchup by keeping things somewhat close. Arkansas even had the game within two, down 12-10. But then after a 8-0 run and an 11-0 run by the Bulldogs, our Hogs were down 31-12. Those runs set up the rest of this atrocious running around the Razorbacks called basketball.

As far as stats go, they were about what you would expect. A horrible performance by Arkansas means terrible stats. Like most of the Arkansas losses this season, the lack of three pointers made was the main reason for our downfall. We finished 1/10 behind the arc, with Anthlon Bell making our lone three in the second half. It’s safe to say Mississippi State made the tears falling off our face the new #SplashZone.

Let me lay these numbers on you. In the end, the Hogs shot 16/72 from the field. If you put the numerator over the denominator, carry over the 1 and do other math things, that comes out to 22.2%. I won’t even begin to express the emotions that 22.2% shooting does to a boy.

Our stars tonight were mere rubbish. The points leader for the Hogs was Jimmy Whitt with 11. LIKE WHAT? WE LET JIMMY WHITT LEAD THE VOYAGE? It’s just sad. Dusty Hannahs, Jabril Durham, Moses Kingsley and Anthlon Bell only combined for 19 points. Nobody was truly getting the job done for us tonight, and that costs us a lot. We are an SEC team and we couldn’t even get above 50 points. Not only that, we couldn’t get above 50 against a team that we put 80+ against the last time.

There are many ways I could summarize my feelings, but tonight I will take the wonderful gif route.

Players of the Game

The Bus Driver-

Our main man single handedly got our Razorback squad to Starkville on time. The hand-eye coordination on this guy is magnificent, I’ll tell ya. The way he turns those sharp corners are so precise it will make your grandma weep. It’s safe to say our handy bus driver will sleep great tonight in his cottage brought to him by the local Embassy Suites.

  • Mississippi State Reserves- I mean, good for these guys. It’s not everyday that you get to see your friendly group of make-a-wish kids get in the game. Sure, they’re not the best. BUT THEY ARE TRYING, PEOPLE. It’s all a character building process. They are all called reserves for a reason, because they are reserved for the best of times. Go shine, boys.
  • Humphrey Coliseum Traffic Controllers- We have to give these guys credit tonight. Let’s just say, they were busy. I don’t know how they were able to pull it off. Fans were everywhere and most definitely excited. With people becoming satisfied early on in the first half, these traffic controllers had their hands full.
  • Jimmy Whitt- I know you are all probably thinking that I’m being genuine with this decision, but I’m not. Jimmy Whitt should not be leading our team in points. And tonight he did. Whitt was not only able to earn the feat of most points, but he was also the only one to got to double digits for the Hogs. I mean, good job? I don’t know what to say. He shot 3/12 and scored the most points, that shouldn’t happen. But….good effort from the freshman.

I will gladly assume the Hogs will step up their game for their next matchup, because it doesn’t get any easier. The Hogs will travel to Oxford to take on Stefan Moody and the Ole Miss Rebels this Saturday. If Arkansas doesn’t change things by then, only god and Dusty’s good looks can help us.

    Woo Pig.
