"The Razorbacks were in control for the majority of the game, but were unable to extend their win streak, after losing a heartbreaker to the LSU Tigers 76-74. Anthlon Bells leads all scorers with 19 points."

In the first half, the Razorbacks start off slow and somewhat sloppy. Early fouls and turnovers saw the Hogs fall behind early. Once Mike Anderson got his guys settled down, you the Razorbacks take over on the offensive end. The hot had of Anthon Bell continued to be a crucial part of the Hogs offensive attack. Bell shot 5 of 10 from the field in the first half, with the 3 of his baskets coming from behind the arc (3-6 from 3 point land). As a team, the Hogs shot 5 of 12 from behind the arc, compared to LSU shooting 3 of 7. For most of the first half, the Razorback defense held Ben Simmons, the talk of college basketball to just 4 points, shooting 1 of 5 from the field. Simmons did make up for his inept offensive output by snagging 11 rebounds in the first half. The biggest key of the Razorbacks’ success came off the bench in the form of Anton Beard, a player that has been struggling as of late.

More from Razorbackers

He netted 7 points, snatched 3 rebounds, including a big offensive rebound that saw him put the ball into the basket. Arkansas closed out the first half strong, going into the locker room with a 40 -36 lead.

The 2nd half saw much of the same action success for the Razorbacks. Back and forth action for both LSU and Arkansas dominate the score. The game came down to the last minute of the game when the Razorbacks finally got a favorable call from the refs, and subsequently turned the ball over, which led to LSU scoring on the other end, leaving 4 seconds on the clock for the Razorbacks to drive the ball down the court and put up a last second shot. Mike Anderson drew up the the play to close the game, which led to Dusty Hannahs getting the ball passed half court, and gave the ball up to Anton Beard. Beard had a good look for the shot, but fell short of the rim, and LSU escaped with a 76-74 victory.

Players of the Game:

  • Anthlon Bell: Bell’s maintained his hot hand, which now spans 3 games. His three point shooting has been nothing but stellar. Bell finished off the game with 19 points, shooting 50% (7 of 14) from the field.
  • Moses Kingsley: Kingsley played well tonight. Although not scoring as much he did against Mizzou, his presence was felt. 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 blocks, many of which came off his stellar defense on LSU star Ben Simmons.
  • Anton Beard: FINALLY, Anton Beard showed up to play tonight. After struggling since he made his return, Beard made a huge difference in the first half when Dusty Hannahs or Anthlon Bell was on the bench. For the game, Beard had 11 points and 5 rebounds.
  • Razorbacks’ Defense on Ben Simmons: In case you didn’t notice, Ben Simmons was playing tonight. The SEC Network commentary wanted to make sure that you knew that. Kudos to the Razorbacks’ defense for containing Simmons for most of the game on the offensive end. Most of his points came from the free throw line. Simmons finished the game with 16 points, going 5 of 13 from the field and 6 of 10 from the free throw line. Simmons was a beast rebounding the basketball, getting 18 boards.
