Big news coming out of Hope, Arkansas this morning. Future Razorback and current Hope High School defensive end, McTelvin Agim, was named the Gatorade Arkansas High School Football Player of the Year. This was made official by Arkansas recruiting guru Richard Davenport.

Agim has been an absolute beast for Hope this season. In a release from USAToday High School Sports, “He recorded 72.5 total tackles, 26 tackles for a loss and 14 sacks this past season, leading the Bobcats to a 9-3 record and the Class 5A quarterfinals. Agim also rushed for nine touchdowns and averaged 50.0 yards on seven kickoff returns. A two-time All-State selection, he is ranked as the nation’s No. 9 recruit in the Class of 2016 by ESPN and has been chosen to play in the 2016 Under Armour All-America Game. The game is slated for Saturday, Jan. 2 and will be televised live on ESPN2 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, the home of the Tampa Bay Rays.

Standing at 6’3″ and weighing in at 268 pounds, he will no doubt make a huge impact on the Razorbacks defensive line. With his 4.6 speed, his power and presence will cause offensive lines across the SEC havoc. This is a huge honor for a great student-athlete that will be a fantastic addition to the Razorback Football Program. Bret Bielema and Robb Smith have got to be licking their chops for Agim to start making a difference for a Razorbacks defense that has several weaknesses. Adding Agim next season will be a big move to help improve the defense to being one of the best in the SEC.
