Going Ham: Arkansas Loses a Close One but Recruiting Picks Up

The Arkansas Razorbacks lost a heartbreaker to Mississippi State last weekend by 1 point. ONE POINT. It sucked, but sometimes the game just doesn’t go your way. There were some questionable coaching decision, but MSU played an outstanding game offensively. Dak Prescott is great, and he looked great on Saturday.

Brandon Allen looked great, too. That’s why some folks are upset that the Hogs got conservative down the stretch vs the Bulldogs. But, Bret Bielema had gambled in key situations several times this year, to limited success. A&M, Tennessee, and Alabama were all games where the Hogs didn’t use their kicking game very well in late situations. If the Hogs make a 30 yard field goal, then they probably win, at least going by statistics.

Razor and I agree that the field goal wasn’t the deciding moment in the game, it was the 4th and 1 deep pass to Hunter Henry instead of trying to rush for the first down. That deep play action pass didn’t work at all, and it cost the Hogs momentum, and led to MSU points. But, even with those mistakes, the Razorbacks were in the position to win the game. Which is good, I guess.

Razor and I also talk about the upcoming Mizzou game, and how the Hogs matchup with the Tigers. Missouri has a stellar defense, but the Arkansas Razorbacks have a stellar offense. Missouri has a terrible offense, and Arkansas has a terrible defense. We have no idea how this game is going to go, honestly. Mizzou is going to be playing their butts off for Gary Pinkel to try and get him to a bowl game. Lots of emotions will be on the field Friday night.
