Arkansas Razorbacks vs MSU Bulldogs: Staff Predictions

facebooktwitterreddit

The Razorbacker’s staff is made up of a unique crowd of Hog fans from all over the state of Arkansas. So it should come as no surprise that our predictions have been a little weird this season. It wasn’t that long ago that we all laughed at Jose for picking the Hogs to win all 6 games after their BYE week, but here we are. It’s amazing what positive thinking can do!

Our staff picked Ole Miss to beat the Hogs by a count of 4-2. Then we picked the Hogs to beat LSU by a count of 4-2. I was that guy that picked us to lose both times. And I’ve been informed by multiple people that I’m not allowed to pick the Razorbacks to win ever again. Much like Bret Bielema, Hog fans can be a little superstitious.

Let’s get into the predictions. As always, there’s a link to all of our Twitter handles so you can tell us how much you agree with us, if you wish. I would also encourage you to go like our Facebook page, follow us on Twitter, and subscribe to our YouTube page. We are a multimedia MACHINE!

Jose Harber – The Hogs are on a roll. They’ve been lighting it up offensively since Auburn, and against LSU, they killed it on defense. Mississippi State comes into town this week averaging 22 points in SEC play (two of those games were against Kentucky and Mizzou). Dak Prescott has carried the Bulldogs all year and he’s arguably the best QB in the SEC, including Brandon Allen. It will be interesting to see how the Hog’s defense plays and if LSU was just a fluke. I don’t think the Bulldogs leave with a win no matter what, but if our defense plays as they did last week, then this game wont be much of a competition. Confidence is high so look for the Hogs to win by three touchdowns 35-14.  Woo Pig.

Matt Jenkins – The Razorbacks meet another spread offense, and this will be arguably the best quarterback they’ve faced all year in Dak Prescott. We all know the struggles that the Arkansas defense has had against spread offenses. But this has a different feel to it… Arkansas looked so impressive last weekend with their destruction of LS-Who. I’m tempted to say that Arkansas will dominate Mississippi State. Defensively, the Razorbacks must contain Dak Prescott and force three and outs. Offensively, keep doing what you’ve been doing. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that this will be the Arkansas defense’s best performance of the season. The Hogs move up to 7-4 win a rout of the Bulldogs, 38-7.

Chris Jackson – Dak Prescott does Dak Prescott things, and the Hogs can’t stop the pass. However, they’ll hold the Bulldogs and Dak to only 50 yards rushing. MSU can’t stop Allen and Collins, either. The Hogs win 34-27.

Barrett Pfeiffer – The Arkansas Razorbacks are one of the hottest teams in the country right now, and they can’t afford to slow down just yet. Containing Dak Prescott will be the biggest key to winning. Hopefully, our defense has learned from their Chad Kelly mistakes, and tackling Prescott won’t be such a challenge. On offense, Dominique Reed will lead the way in receiving once again. I say the rushing/passing attack will be balanced to the point of perfection, keeping the Bulldogs on their toes at all times. The Hogs pull out another win tonight 38-24, making those god awful cowbells shut up for once. (Editors Note: CLANGACLANGACLANGA

More from Razorbackers

Blake Smith – After beating Ole Miss and LSU in back to back road games, the Razorbacks get the Dak attack and the MSU Bulldogs for their effort. Arkansas has once again become the “November Hogs” where they become one of the hottest and scariest teams in the country. While the Razorbacks’ defense has gotten better, I predict a shoot out with the two best QB’s in the SEC, and if the pass rush isn’t there, it may be a long night for our secondary. However, we’ve entered #NovemBert and are at home, so I have the Hogs in a good one, 34-31.

Cory Thone – This is a tough one for me. On the one hand, I think Arkansas is the better team right now, and is at home. If I was an outsider looking in, I’d pick the Hogs to win by 2 scores. However, as a lifelong Razorback fan, I’ve seen what happens to this defense when they face a QB who can run. We made Patrick Mahomes look like Chad Kelly, and made Chad Kelly look like Johnny Manziel. But the defense looked great last week against a pro-style offense. MSU doesn’t run a pro-style, though. So it worries me.

On top of all that, I’ve picked the Hogs to lose the last 2 weeks, and they won. If I pick the Razorbacks today and they lose, will it be my fault? Of course not. That’s silly. IT WILL BE YOUR FAULT FOR READING THIS. The Razorbacks have all the momentum, and while Prescott is 1 outstanding player, the Hogs offense has 3 or 4. MSU puts up points, but they can’t stop Arkansas. The Razorbacks win 35-24.

I did not expect to see our staff pick the Hogs to win unanimously. What a crazy turnaround from even 3 weeks ago. The Razorbacks are on fire, no doubt, and it’s showing in the confidence of the fans, coaches, and players. Hopefully, the Hogs don’t get the big head this time around. We’ll see you all after the game with out post-game article.
