Little Rock, Ark. – The Arkansas Razorbacks picked up an important verbal commitment for their 2014 class on Monday when four-star point guard Anton Beard ‘Called the Hogs.’

Beard, 6’0”, 180 pounds, is listed as a Top 100 player in the nation by Rivals. The North Little Rock High School product helped lead the Wildcats to a 7-A State Championship in 2013.

Playing for Team Thad and with Team Penny on the EYBL circuit, Beard was able to showcase his talents as a heady point guard that can distribute the ball well while limiting turnovers.

Beard was a one-time commitment to the Missouri Tigers but re-opened his recruiting choosing to stay in-state to play for head coach Mike Anderson and the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Several teams had offered Beard a scholarship including Georgia Tech, LSU, U-Mass, Florida State, Georgetown, Memphis, and Tennessee among others.

Beard is listed as the No. 1 overall player in the state of Arkansas for the 2014 class. Beard will be the second consecutive Top 100 and No. 1 overall rated in-state player to commit to and sign with the Hogs after Mike Anderson signed Little Rock Hall’s Bobby Portis to his 2013 class.
