The path from defending national champions to one-and-done in the NIT has to sting for Kentucky fans. The unthinkable happened Tuesday night when Pennsylvania based Robert Morris, enrollment of 3,600 students, took down the college basketball giant 59-57.
The game was one-sided for much of the game as Kentucky was down by as many as 18 points before storming back. Archie Goodwin led the Wildcats with 18 points but could not overcome the fired up Robert Morris players and their home crowd to avoid the upset.
Robert Morris was led by Lucky Jones’ 15 points even though he was ejected from the game after a flagrant foul on Goodwin with 3:41 left in the game.
