Fayetteville, Ark. – The Arkansas Razorbacks continued their dominance at home during the 2012-2013 men’s college basketball season by beating Texas A&M 73-62 on Sunday.
The Hogs controlled every aspect of the game after jumping out to an 18-point lead in the first half. For the game Arkansas outrebounded Texas A&M 31-24, forced 23 Aggie turnovers, and held a decided advantage at the free throw line shooting 36 attempts to their 20.
Arkansas had five players in double figures with Mardracus Wade scoring a team-high 14 followed by Michael Qualls 13, Rashad Madden’s 11, Marshawn Powell’s 10, and Anthlon Bell’s 10. The Hogs’ leading scorer BJ Young (15.6 per) was held to two points in 11 minutes of game time.
Texas A&M, playing without top scorer Elston Turner, got a game-high 16 points from Fabyon Harris with Jordan Green chipping in 14.
The win improved the Hogs win-loss record at home to 17-1 on the season with their only loss coming to then No. 6 Syracuse. More importantly for Arkansas fans the win secured the program’s first winning season in the SEC since 2008-2009 a sign of good things to come under second year head coach Mike Anderson.
Arkansas waits for seeding in the SEC Tournament which is scheduled to begin on March 14.
