Brooklyn, NY – The NBA released their reserves for the Eastern and Western All-Star squads on Thursday leaving out former Arkansas Razorback and six-time NBA All-Star Joe Johnson (2007-2012) in the process.

The fans voted for the starting squads leaving the remaining seven players per each squad up to the coaches to fill-in. Despite being a regular on the Eastern All-Star team since his second year in Atlanta (2006-2007), Johnson’s 17.4 points per game, second best on the Nets, were not enough to sway coaches to vote for the Arkansas native.

Johnson was not the only Brooklyn Nets player left off the team, point guard Deron Williams, a three-time All-Star (2010-2012), and center Brook Lopez were also snubbed during the selections. Of the three Lopez might have more reasons to feel slighted than Johnson or Williams.

Lopez is averaging a team-high 18.6 points per game, is second on the team with an average of 7.40 per game while averaging 2.11 blocks per game, seventh best in the league and a team-high.

The snub for the Nets player’s across the board comes as the Boston Celtics have placed two starters on the Eastern squad despite being two games below .500 (20-22). The Nets are third in the Eastern Conference and only 2.5 games behind leaders Miami Heat and only one game out of first in the Atlantic Division behind the New York Knicks with a 26-16 record.

The coaches instead placed five first-time players on the East’s roster including Chicago’s Joakim Noah, New York’s Tyson Chandler, Pacer Paul George, Philly’s Jrue Holiday, and Cavs point guard Kyrie Irving.

The 62nd NBA All-Star Game will be played at Houston’s Toyota Center on Feb. 17, airing on TNT at 8:30 p.m. ET.
