2013 College Baseball: Hogs Start Preseason Practice No. 1 in Coaches’ Poll

Fayetteville, Ark. – The Arkansas Razorback baseball team begins preparation for the 2013 college baseball team on Friday at Baum Stadium with some added swagger and expectations when they step on the field. The Hogs were named No. 1 in the USA Today-Coaches’ Poll on Thursday.

The Hogs return seven position players that were regular contenders for Arkansas’ run to the 2012 College World Series last season and have 10 pitchers to anchor a staff that could be the best in the nation.

The No. 1 ranking by the coaches was the second top billing in the preseason the Hogs received the first coming from Collegiate Baseball in December. Earlier this week Perfect Game ranked the Razorbacks as their No. 2 team in the nation and Baseball America has Arkansas as the No. 3 team in the nation.

Eight total SEC teams were named by in the poll: Arkansas, LSU, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi State, and Texas A&M

Arkansas takes the mound for their first game on Friday, Feb. 15, at Baum Stadium against Western Illinois.
