Bielema Announces Tryouts for Hopeful Razorbacks

Fayetteville, Ark. – Arkansas Razorbacks head coach Bret Bielema will hold tryouts for hopeful walk-ons Monday, Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. CT. The walk-on program has proven to be invaluable for the Hogs in recent years.

Last season Arkansas started two walk-ons on the offensive line when guard Tyler Deacon and tackle David Hurd played their way ahead of more heralded high school recruits. One of the most beloved players in Arkansas history, Brandon Burlsworth, was a former walk-on who went on to become an All American while playing for the Hogs from 1996-1998.

In 2010 the Burlsworth Trophy was created in his honor and is awarded annually to the best Division-I player who is or was a former walk-on.

Only University of Arkansas students enrolled in at least 12 hours are allowed to attend tryouts. Each attendee must bring proof of insurance and copies of recent physicals and sickle cell tests.

Hopefuls must sign up at the Broyles Complex before Friday, Feb. 1 at 5 p.m.
