Fayetteville, Ark. – The newly ranked No. 25 Arkansas Razorbacks women’s basketball team will host their final 2012-2013 non-conference college basketball opponent on Friday night when Coppin State comes to Walton Arena.
Ranked for the first time in two years, the Razorbacks are 11-1 with a quality win over then No. 17 Kansas State (64-56) and with a heartbreaking three point loss to then No. 13 Oklahoma, 73-70, in Hawaii.
Looking to extend their national recognition before heading into SEC play on Jan. 3 against Texas A&M, Coppin State, 4-7, will try to break the Hogs eight-game winning streak against a high-scoring Razorback squad.
Arkansas head coach Tom Collen will present the Eagles with several offensive options to defend. If Coppin State has an upset in mind they will have to first slow down junior forward Keira Peak’s team-high 13.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.
The Hogs can also count on senior forward Sarah Wakins, second on the team averaging 12.8 points with 4.5 rebounds and senior forward Quistelle Williams is averaging 10.3 points and 6.3 rebounds.
The Razorbacks have more playmakers in sophomore point guard Calli Berna, averaging 8.7 points and 5.6 assists, along with sophomore forward Jhasmin Bowen, averaging 8.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.
Place: Walton Arena
Time: Tipoff is at 7 p.m. CT, Dec. 28
