Darren McFadden Returns Home for Youth Football ProCamp

Former Arkansas Razorback All-American and current Oakland Raiders running back, Darren McFadden, has announced his inaugural 2012 Darren McFadden Football ProCamp to be held at Maumelle High School June 5-6.

McFadden was a five-star high school football player at Oak Grove during his 2005 senior season. After rushing for 2,027 yards his junior year and 1,965 yards his senior season, McFadden, then listed at 6’1”, 198 pounds with 4.38 forty-yard dash speed, transformed his amazing Parade All-American high school career into a record breaking collegiate career for the Razorbacks.

During his three year career at Arkansas, McFadden was twice recognized as college football’s best running back winning the Doak Walker Award in 2006 and 2007, his sophomore and junior seasons. He was also a two-time All-American and two-time runner up for the Heisman Trophy Award in 2006 and 2007.

In 13 games during his junior campaign, McFadden rushed for 1,830 yards with 16 touchdowns. Out of 11 passing attempts in 2007, he completed six passes with four received for touchdowns. That same year the SEC named McFadden the SEC Offensive Player of the Year.

The Oakland Raiders selected McFadden in the first round, fourth overall, in the 2008 NFL Draft. In 13 games during the 2010 season the Raiders starting tailback rushed for 1,157 yards with seven touchdowns. Last season he was on track to rush for over 1,000 yards again before injuries derailed his promising season (7 games, 113 rushing attempts, 614 rushing yards, 4 touchdowns).

The two day Darren McFadden Football ProCamp is open to boys and girls ages 7-14. The youth football event focuses on football fundamentals, 7-on-7 drills, and team concepts with McFadden on hand throughout to provide motivational support and talks to the campers.

Area high school football coaches will be on hand to help give individual instruction to campers during drills and practices.

The cost to attend is $99 with camp scholarships available for individuals that qualify. Each camper will receive an autographed team camp photo with McFadden, acampT-shirt, and goodie bag of merchandise valued over $150.
